A tipi is a cone-shaped tent built from long poles and covered in canvas, inspired by the dwellings of the Plains peoples of North America. Colombia has 17 glamping sites with tipis, and Villa de Leyva, with 2, is the only municipality that has more than one.

Cundinamarca has 5, Boyacá 4 and Santander 2. There is also a beachside tipi in Cartagena and another in Aipe, in Huila.
Few places have only tipis. Six combine them with cabins, five with domes and three with yurts, and together they total 74 units.
A tipi has an opening at the top, where the poles cross. Ask whether that opening closes when it rains or has some protection. Find out whether the tipi sits on a wooden platform or directly on the ground. Ask whether you sleep in a bed or on a mattress on the floor, because both exist. If it has a fireplace or stove inside, confirm that it has a smoke vent and that the host lights it. Ask where the bathroom is. And if you're taller than average, ask about the height, because the ceiling drops a lot at the edges.
Bogotá has 5 tipis in its area and Tunja 4. From Bogotá, the options are in Chía, Guatavita, Suesca, Ubaque and Fómeque. From Tunja, Villa de Leyva has 2, and Arcabuco and Santa Sofía one each. Bucaramanga has 2, one in Matanza and one in Zapatoca. Medellín counts 2, in Titiribí and Itagüí. Villavicencio also shows up with 2. Ibagué and Cartagena have one each.
Not all tipis are the same. The most basic are a tent with a mattress and little else. The most complete have a raised bed, a wood stove and a view. On this list, 5 tipis have a fireplace, 5 are advertised for couples and 5 highlight the view, while 4 have a lake nearby. Glamping Finca Corazon, in Arcabuco, combines a fireplace, a lake and pets allowed. Cerrotusaglamping, in Titiribí, adds a pool and a view. And Amalife Beach, in Cartagena, is the only one on the beach.
Tipis are concentrated in the center of the country, with a few isolated cases:
Servicios Camping San Francisco, in Guatavita, combines tipis with a fireplace, a lake and a view.
Villa de Leyva has 2 glamping sites with tipis, the only municipality with more than one. Arcabuco, very close by, adds one more.
Yes, 5 tipis have a fireplace. Glamping Finca Corazon in Arcabuco and Cerrotusaglamping in Titiribí are two of them.
A tipi is a cone of poles and canvas with an opening at the top; a dome is a cupola made of triangles. A dome usually has more usable space at head height.
