Ask whether that opening closes when it rains or has some protection. Find out whether the tipi sits on a wooden platform or directly on the ground. Ask whether you sleep in a bed or on a mattress on the floor, because both exist. If it has a fireplace or stove inside, confirm that it has a smoke vent and that the host lights it. Ask where the bathroom is. Ibagué and Cartagena have one each. ## A simple tipi or a tipi with a fireplace and a lake Not all tipis are the same. The most basic are a tent with a mattress and little else.
