Tipis in Boyacá

A tipi is a conical tent, canvas over poles that meet at the top, inspired by the dwellings of North American Plains peoples. A yurt, by contrast, is round, with straight walls and a lower roof. Inside a tipi the usable space is in the center, so ask how the bed is arranged, whether there is a wooden floor and whether the fireplace, when there is one, is inside or outside.

In practice, if you go to Villa de Leyva you have half of the department's tipi offering in one town. Ask whether the tipi has its own or a shared bathroom and how far away it is. Ask how the temperature is kept up at night and whether there are extra blankets.
