How much does glamping cost in Colombia?
A glamping in Colombia has no fixed price. Each host sets their own rate, and the number changes with the type of accommodation, the extras, the season and how many people are going. The only way to know the exact price is to ask for it for your dates.
This guide explains what makes the rate go up or down, when it costs more to sleep in a glamping and what to ask so you can compare on equal terms.
Why there is no standard rate
Glamping is not a regulated category like a hotel with a certain number of stars. Each place decides what it offers and how much it charges. Two domes in the same municipality can cost very differently if one has a private jacuzzi and the other doesn't, or if one includes breakfast and dinner. In addition, many hosts don't publish the price on their listing. They prefer to give it by message, because it depends on the date and the group. That's not a bad sign. It only means you have to ask before comparing.
What raises or lowers a glamping's rate
These are the factors that move the price of a night the most:
- The type of unit: a bubble or a large chalet doesn't cost the same as a tipi.
- Private extras: jacuzzi, pool or fireplace inside your unit.
- The season: long weekends (puentes festivos), Semana Santa and the end-of-year holidays.
- The day of the week: Friday and Saturday are usually the most expensive.
- The number of people and whether they charge for each additional person.
- Meals included, from breakfast only to full board.
- Distance to a big city, which increases demand.
It is almost always a mix of several.
High and low season for Colombian glamping
In Colombia, demand for glamping follows the holiday calendar. Long weekends (puentes festivos) fill the places near Bogotá, Medellín and Cali, and there the rate goes up and two-night minimums appear. Semana Santa, the mid-year school holidays and the end-of-year season are the most requested dates. On the other hand, from Sunday to Thursday, outside those periods, it's easier to find availability and sometimes a lower price. If you're flexible, ask about the difference between weekdays and weekends. Sometimes it's big.
How to ask for the rate on WhatsApp without misunderstandings
A good first message saves several back-and-forths. Include your exact dates, how many adults and children are going and whether you're bringing a pet. Then ask for this information in writing:
- The total price, not just one night.
- Whether it's per person or for the whole unit.
- What's included: breakfast, firewood, use of the jacuzzi, parking.
- How much the deposit is and when the rest is paid.
- What happens if you cancel or change the date.
With that you book directly with the glamping and compare several options using the same information.
How to spend less without giving up the plan
There are ways to lower the bill without changing your mind. Travel on weekdays if you can. Choose a unit without a private jacuzzi, because that extra usually weighs a lot in the price. Look at simple formats, like tipis or tents, or hostel-style places with a glamping area. If four or more of you are traveling, ask about one large unit instead of two small ones. And check the budget glamping page, which gathers options with low reference rates, before writing to several hosts.
