Safari tent in Huila

Villavieja has 3 of the 4, in the north of the department, where the Tatacoa is. Gigante, in central Huila, has the fourth. In the south, in San Agustín or Pitalito, there are no safari tents on this list; there the offering is domes, cabins and glamping sites. For sleeping in canvas with a desert landscape, the Tatacoa is almost the only option in the department.

With so little data in the listings, this is what is known:

• Mirador Valle de la Tatacoa is the only one that marks a view, and it is in Villavieja.
• Tatacoa Star Eco Hotel, also in Villavieja, presents itself as an eco-hotel and marks no themes.
• The third one in Villavieja, with an English name, is listed as a safari tent and as a dome.
• In Gigante, Nómada glamping is the only safari tent outside the Tatacoa.

A safari tent mixes canvas with a wood or metal structure: from outside it looks like an expedition tent, inside it has a bed, furniture and sometimes a toilet. In the Tatacoa, a semi-arid region with an extreme climate, the material matters: ask whether there is a double roof, whether air circulates from side to side and where it gives shade in the afternoon. Also find out whether the toilet is part of the tent or a few steps outside. In Gigante, ask whether the tent has its own roof or sits under a cover.
