## About Llanos Orientales

The Llanos are a region of vast savannas between Colombia and Venezuela, in the Orinoco basin. They have two marked seasons, rain and drought, and a tropical climate with generally high temperatures.

Villavicencio has 32, almost half. Outside the capital of Meta, the offering is scattered across towns with few options, such as Restrepo (5), Puerto Gaitán (4), Tauramena (2), or San Luis de Palenque (2).

Together they add up to 193 units. There are 8 ecolodges, and more than half of them are in Casanare or Vichada, far from Villavicencio.

## A region of savannas in the Orinoco basin

The Llanos are a region of vast savannas that Colombia shares with Venezuela, in the Orinoco basin. They have two well-marked seasons, one rainy and one dry, and an intertropical climate with generally high temperatures. That matters when choosing a glamping. If you travel in the rainy season, ask the host what the access road is like and whether any stretch floods. In the dry season, check whether the unit has shade, a fan, or air conditioning, and whether the pool or river is available.

## Casanare and Vichada: what the Meta page does not show

The page for glamping in Meta stops at the department border. This one follows the llanero region, so it adds 17 glamping sites in Casanare and 1 in Vichada that do not appear there. In Yopal, for example, there is Luna Llanera Ecolodge. The only one in Vichada is Ecolodge Hacienda Los Amores, in Puerto Carreño, with a pool and river. Places in Nunchía, Trinidad, Monterrey, Villanueva, and Paz de Ariporo also come in. If your plan is Villavicencio and its surroundings, the Meta page is enough; if you want to go farther east, this is the one for you.
