Guatavita is a municipality in Cundinamarca, in the Guavio province, 53 km northeast of Bogotá. The Tominé Reservoir extends across land belonging to its town center and to the municipality of Sesquilé.

## About Laguna de Guatavita

The lake of the Guatavita chieftain is in the Eastern Cordillera, in the Tierra Negra rural district of the municipality of Sesquilé (Cundinamarca), about 75 km northeast of Bogotá. It falls under the jurisdiction of the Corporación Autónoma Regional (CAR), the regional environmental authority.
